How to read your results
Monthly payment is the fixed amount you'll pay every month for the full term. Total interest is what the loan costs you beyond the principal — the real price of borrowing. Total amount payable is principal plus interest, the full amount that leaves your pocket over the life of the loan.
A longer term lowers your monthly payment but increases total interest, since you're carrying a balance — and paying interest on it — for longer. If your lender lets you choose a shorter term without straining your monthly budget, you'll generally pay less overall.

Loan calculator FAQ
How is my monthly loan payment calculated?
By default this calculator uses the diminishing balance method — the standard for Philippine bank loans — where interest is charged only on your remaining balance each month. Your payment stays the same every month, but the portion going to interest shrinks over time while the portion going to principal grows.
What's a typical interest rate for a loan in the Philippines?
It depends heavily on the loan type and lender: bank personal loans commonly run 15-25% per year, online lending apps can range from 20% up to triple digits annualized, salary/SSS loans sit around 10%, and secured loans (car, home) are usually lower than unsecured personal loans. Always check the lender's official rate sheet — this tool estimates payments once you know the rate.
Does this include processing fees or insurance?
No. This calculator estimates principal and interest only. Many Philippine lenders deduct a one-time processing fee (often 1-5% of the loan amount) from your proceeds and may require credit life insurance, both of which affect what you actually receive and repay — factor those in separately using your lender's disclosure statement.
What's the difference between this and the car loan or SSS loan calculators?
This is a general-purpose calculator for any diminishing-balance loan. Use the dedicated car loan calculator if your quote is in add-on/flat rate (most PH auto loans are), and the SSS loan calculator if you're computing an SSS salary loan, which follows SSS's own contribution-based loanable amount and fixed interest rules rather than a rate you choose.
